PPBROA to Expand Performance Pickleball’s Operations to Second Virginia Facility

March 13, 2024

Roanoke, VA – Performance Pickleball is thrilled to announce the development of Performance Pickleball Roanoke (PPBROA), which will serve as the second dedicated indoor pickleball facility the brand will operate in Virginia. The facility will feature 10 state-of-the-art courts as part of a major redevelopment of the existing Spectrum Sports Academy building in Roanoke, VA.

“From the very beginning, we have been eager to bring a world-class pickleball facility to the Roanoke Valley,” said Performance Pickleball COO Jon Laaser. “We have developed an amazing relationship with the pickleball community in the region, including the Roanoke Ruckus, and we can’t wait to provide that community a top-notch facility to call home. We know they share our enthusiasm for the project.”

“The Roanoke Ruckus is thrilled to be in partnership with Performance Pickleball Roanoke,” said Ruckus Co-Founder Tyler Reburn. “The interest in pickleball is booming in our area; with new players finding their way into the sport every day. The addition of a state-of-the-art indoor pickleball destination is what Roanoke has been craving! We look forward to seeing the impact that PPBROA will make in our community.”

“We look forward to Performance Pickleball ROA taking shape here in the Roanoke Region,” stated Director of Sports and Sales for Visit Virginia’s Blue Ridge, John Oney. “An indoor pickleball complex like this will attract a different type of visitor looking to not only compete in high quality tournaments, but also gives them another reason to explore our region. Players attending tournaments and camps held at this new complex will stay in our hotels, eat in our restaurants and discover our metro mountain adventure opportunities that we’re known for.”

PPBROA will join Performance Pickleball’s Flagship location, Performance Pickleball RVA (PPBRVA), and will carry the same branding, operational concepts and dedication to a top-end player experience. PPBROA will include a diverse events space, large-scale pro shop and Kitchen ROA, a sports-centered food & beverage concept.

“As we continue to evolve, and become what we are striving to be as an organization, PPBROA broadly expands what we are capable of in every phase of operation, including the tournament, instructional and events spaces,” Laaser added. “As always, we intend to push the envelope on what is possible as pickleball continues to enjoy unrivaled growth.”

Development of PPBROA will begin in early Summer of 2024, with an expected opening date prior to the end of the year.

“We pride ourselves on moving quickly when we know the opportunity is the right one,” said Performance Pickleball Managing Partner Lee Warfield. “With our network throughout Virginia, and in particular the Roanoke Valley, we have the utmost confidence in what PPBROA can be and the timeline in which we can create it.”

PPBROA will feature membership options at various levels, but will also welcome non-member play and a variety of events within the space. Members of PPBRVA and PPBROA will also enjoy reciprocity within the Performance Pickleball network of facilities and tournaments.
